Podcast Season 1 Wrap Up

Sue Patterson

Podcast Transcript:

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been making these UM2M podcasts for a year now.

My start date was March of 2021.

I was wondering where the natural break for a season would be.

And since my last podcast was #52, I’ve decided that that’s a good stopping place for the first Season.
I want to hop on here with you to wrap it and to talk to you a little bit about my plans for Season 2.

Hopefully this isn’t your 1st Unschooling Mom2Mom podcast!
If it is, I want to encourage you to go back and
listen to one of the others.
Find a topic that worries you, and I’ll bring you a little reassurance.

If we haven’t met, I’m Sue Patterson, and I run all things Unschooling Mom2Mom - social media, youtube, website. I have a coaching business where I share my enthusiasm for unschooling. With 25 years in the community and raising three grown unschoolers of my own, I can tell you with confidence that Unschooling Works. No doubt in my mind.

So for these podcasts, I’m a talker and a writer. I write out what I’m going to say first, usually in one sitting. My daughter was saying that I need to speak off the cuff on here - but for those who know me, you know I would NOT be able to keep it under 10 minutes! So I write it out and then read it onto Zoom for the recording. I don’t edit. If I have some kind of coughing fit, or don’t like what I’ve written, I start over. They’re short, so no biggie.

I tried to do one podcast every week, but my regular followers know I’ve missed a few! Now I know why they said to upload extras in the beginning!

So with this second season of the Unschooling Mom2Mom podcast, I want to cut back to a couple every month instead of weekly. This will give me time to share it in all the places, upload it onto YouTube, make some posts on Instagram, and maybe even on TikTok - all related to that topic.

Speaking of topics,

What do you want to hear for Season 2?

Listeners have shared a few ideas, but I’d love more.
For the new season, we have topics like:

  • What do unschoolers do about the “hard subjects”
  • What about all these teachers who have left school to unschool their own children - how are they doing? Is it easier or harder for them? You might be surprised!
  • What if you have a chronic illness, can you still unschool?
  • I might do some brainstorming with you about how to find the hidden learning in every day life.
  • More about teens and technology
  • It all depends on what you want to hear - so let me know!

We’ve had over 67K downloads as of today, so I think it’s something people are enjoying.
I have a few great comments as feedback - but I’d love to hear from more of you!
I don’t have sponsors or advertising, because I really want to keep these short. I know how busy you all are!

For now, I’ve set up a “Buy Me A Coffee” account for those who’d like to support the podcast & keep’em coming!
It’s easy.
BuyMeACoffee.com/suepatterson.
I love a good cup of coffee, so I hope you’ll use that!

I just wanted to hop on here to let you know that season one has wrapped up and we’ll be back soon with Season 2.
Write to me!
Let me know what you want me to talk about on the future Unschooling Mom2Mom podcasts!

Enjoy your kids - and Happy Unschooling!
